Spring 2016 Wishlist.

spring

So, as we say goodbye to those cosy fires and warm hot chocolates, we say hello to florals and slightly (and I mean slightly) warmer weather. Although spring definitely isn’t as cosy as winter, I feel the coming of spring is a fresh start to the new year as new leases of life arrive. I mean we’re all soooo ready for spring but most of us are still stuck in our winter ways. I mean, who wants to drop their fluffy socks and chunky knit scarves… certainly not me! Especially, with the weather still being ice cold over here in England.

I feel like now that spring has arrived my wardrobe has changed quite a bit, pastels and bright colours making an appearance here and there. I also found myself wearing sandals the other day! As it’s still so cold, I think I’m going to hang on to my chunky scarves for a little bit longer, I’m not as daring as some of you!

So, onto my Spring 2016 Wishlist…

Happy 2016!

new-year-main

Well, where do I start? I would like to start by apologising for the lack of blog posts I have made recently. In fact, this is my first one for 2016 and it’s the last day of February! So as I haven’t already, I would like to wish all you lovely lot a very Happy 2016!

My 2016 has been a bit of an eventful one already… Back in January when we were having a very cold spell, I managed to skid on black ice and roll my car twice and land it on it’s roof, go Kaitlyn!! This explains my lack of blogging as I have had to deal with so much paperwork from the insurance and countless doctors appointments; it’s just been a nightmare, I have had countless sleepless nights! But nevertheless, I have had a plus out of this whole experience and that is that I have bought myself a new car!

So, I would like to introduce to you…. Lola Mark 2

I also have lots of blog posts planned for the next coming months so I am looking forward to sharing those with you. Including a couple of collaborations and hauls which I’m super excited about! So stay tuned for those!

Christmas Inspired Nails.

IMG_6973

I literally cannot believe we are half way through November already?!?Anyone else think this year has absolutely flown?

I don’t know about you, but on my days off I love to stay in bed and read through other peoples blogs, watch Netflix and listen to music. If I have the time I also like to pamper myself a little, you know, just the easy stuff… Facials, Nails etc.

As (dare I say it) Christmas is coming up, I was feeling very festive today so I decided to paint my nails very christmassy. Love or Hate Christmas, I think this nail design is so cute!

Christmas Nails

This nail look, looks quite intricate but really it’s super super easy! All you need is a Burgundy/Red and a top coat of gold glitter. I used BarryM’s ‘Raspberry’ as the base and ‘Yellow Topaz’ over the top. I’d advise you to apply two coats of the glitter varnish as it comes out in quite thin layers.

IMG_6940

There you have it! It’s really that simple and you will be surprised about the number of people that will compliment your nails, when I tell them how I did it they seem quite surprised (in a good way!).

If you’re not quite in the Christmas mood yet, why not try it with a black or pink? I’d love to see your experimental colours!

Autumn Fashion Inspiration #2

Autumn Fashion Trends #2

As you all probably know, Autumn is my favourite season of the year. It’s not just the time of year I love, It’s the fashion. Which is why I thought I would do a second Autumn Fashion Inspiration as since making the first one, I’ve picked up on so many other trends that I absolutely LOVE! The temptation to splash the cash is real…

Stick to Plan A…

A line

Now, this is a trend I haven’t really seen or tried before, a few years ago if my mum showed me one of these bad boys I would have turned my nose up at it straight away. I don’t know why the sudden change of heart, but I absolutely love these. I have always loved the preppy look but this is more casual preppy, I can’t wait to give it a go!

V-neck who?…

Polo Dress

Everyone knows this is the ‘in thing’ this Autumn/Winter, whether its tops, shirts or dresses if it has this neck then you can’t go wrong, they’re absolutely everywhere. There is always some confusion on a personal level as to whether they are called ‘turtle neck’ or ‘polo neck’ but hey, who cares as long as you look good!

These boots were made for walking…

Thigh High 2

In this case… probably not but who doesn’t love a good thigh high? These scream elegance and I just love them. The thing is, with a black boot they mostly all look the same but if you look closer, they all have different materials, heels and shapes, so always choose one that suits your personality AND most important of all (note to self) make sure you can walk in them!

Wrap up warm…

Wrap 2

The Wrap/Poncho have been a trend the past few Autumn/Winters and I can definitely see why! I love these, they’re so cosy and warm. Even better when they have a fur neckline. I think they always look so classy and put together, when in reality, they’re just thrown on over the top, a definite must have!

So, there’s my second little style guide to this Autumn. Hope you enjoyed reading! If you haven’t read my first one yet, here is a link – Autumn Fashion Post #1

Battle of the drug store foundations.

1 (Edited & Tagged)

I don’t know about you, but I love sticking to one foundation all day, every day. Although, now and again I happen to stumble across an absolute bargain so naturally, I just HAVE to pick it up and give it a go. So. here is my run down on a collection of the most popular drug store foundations…

2 (Edited & Tagged)

RIMMEL Wake Me Up Foundation – (Retails at £8.99)

Rimmel is a brand I frequently use so when I saw that they had a new foundation out I just had to try it! A lot of people had been raving about this one in particular so I was so excited to try it out. First impressions were good. The formula wasn’t too thick or too thin, just the right consistency. It is a full coverage foundation which is a big plus for me as I love my full coverage. Although, the only part that let it down for me was that the shades were slightly orange. I chose the lightest shade as I have incredibly pale skin and even that was slightly orange on my skin. I did compare it to my other Rimmel foundation and that one wasn’t so orange. All in all, a good foundation, full coverage and lovely finish. I would advise you to properly try out the colours though!

3 (Edited & Tagged)

RIMMEL Match Perfection Foundation – (Retails at £7.99)

This is my absolute holy grail foundation. I wear it everywhere, I can’t rave about it enough! It is a full coverage foundation, the consistency is quite thick, but not so thick that your face feels cakey. It has a pore blurring effect so if you have big pores (like me) then I suggest you give this a try and at only £7.99? Absolute Bargain.

4 (Edited & Tagged)

REVLON 24hr Colourstay Foundation – (Retails at £12.99)

Personally, I’m not really a Revlon fanatic so I saw this and was a bit hesitant at first, but I thought I’d try it. To my delight, when I tried it the consistency was good. It is definitely a full coverage foundation but it feels very light on your face and the colour choice is very good too. Out of these 5 Foundations, this one is definitely up there.

5 (Edited & Tagged)

B. Oil Control Foundation – (Retails at £10.99)

I quite like this brand as they are a harm free brand. I have a few of their products and I saw someone do a review of this and she seemed to love it so I thought I’d give it a go too! First impressions were good. It is has a thick consistency, this one is unfortunately, slightly cakey, but maybe I apply it too thick! I also found it to be slightly orange, likewise with Rimmel Wake Me Up. I think it is a good foundation but I would advise you to be very selective with your colour choice.

6 (Edited & Tagged)

MAYBELLINE Dream Flawless Foundation – (Retails at £8.99)

I have recently seen a lot of people raving about this foundation. As soon as you shake the bottle you can tell that it is going to be a light coverage foundation. So, not ideal for me! I tried it out anyway and as I expected, I didn’t like it one bit! It is a very light coverage, so ideal to those who like a very natural foundation. The colour is totally great and I would recommend it to anyone who likes a more natural look.

So, there is my little run down of 5 drug store foundations. I would love to know if you have any different opinions on them or any other drug store foundations!

10 Heartbreaking Make-Up Moments We Have All Experienced.

Even if you are completely make-up savvy, these devastating moments have happened to the best of us…

Beyonce-Crying

1. Putting your lipstick in your handbag and the lid falling off. – Resulting in you finding your favourite MAC Ruby Woo lipstick A) smothered all over the inside of your bag and B) crushed and ruined forever. Sob.

2. Dropping your face powder. – Usually when you’re a couple of glasses of wine deep and trying to retouch your make-up in a nightclub and all of a sudden crack… Shards of face powder everywhere. Life = ruined.

3. Mascara on your nose. – When you’re just doing the final touches to make sure each eyelash is looking perfect and then that soft gentle graze across your faces ends up in the thickest blackest line, right across your perfectly powdered nose. Gah.

4. Eyeliner never being even. – Every girl’s nightmare before going out is when you decide to risk it, and go for the winged eyeliner look. You get the first one perfect and the second… well, goes a bit crooked, so you spend a little time making it even, which then turns to 10 minutes. And you look like a panda… *tries not to cry*

5. The foundation line. – There’s nothing worse than thinking your make-up is done, then a friend tells you about the huge line at the edge of your face where your foundation isn’t rubbed in and that you resemble an Oompa Loompa. Sigh.

6. The perfect smoky eye is IMPOSSIBLE. –  You see it in magazines and on make-up adverts, the perfect smoky eye and it looks so simple to do! You buy the exact same palette, apply it the exact same way and end up looking like Uncle Fester.

7. Eyebrow video tutorials. – You can spend hours on YouTube watching make-up tutorials. Look how simply they pencil their eyebrows in with a result of them looking flawless and natural, but when it comes around to you doing the exact same thing, you end up with two black rectangles on your face.

8. The non-stick fake eyelash. – You apply one of your eyelashes and it falls perfectly on your eyelid, then you start with the other, and it won’t effing stick. LIFE.

9. The end of your foundation. – You’ve expected this day to come for some time. It’s a couple of weeks away from payday and your fave foundation runs out. You scrape every last bit of it out, hoping it will last but NOPE. You’re foundationless.

10. The new mascara. – This nightmare happens a lot more than you think. It’s the time of month where you go make-up shopping to top up on everything you need, you come home to test all of your new products, only to discover that the black mascara you’ve wanted to try for ages, is actually brown. BROWN. Worst. Day. Ever.

No matter the problem, I feel your pain and I’m sure every other girl does too. Such a hard life being a girl…

Autumn Fashion Inspiration.

Autumn edit

Autumn is my absolute favourite season for fashion, there’s nothing I love more than cosying up into a big coat and chunky knit scarf with a nice hot cup of hot chocolate. Hopefully this post will be informative as well as a good ‘ol read on the upcoming Autumn fashion. I’ve noticed throughout the past few years, autumn fashion has stayed mostly similar but with a few different twists each year, I mean, who doesn’t love a good old parka coat?

Chunky but funky…

jumper 2

Now, we all love a good chunky in the winter. Being able to come home from work and chuck on a huge jumper and long pair of socks is just the best thing in the world. Chunky everything is ALWAYS going to be in when the weather is cold. Chunky scarves, cardi’s, jumpers, socks, boots… the list is endless. You can never go wrong with one of these in the Autumn.

Don’t furget the fur…

Fur Waistcoat

Another trend that has been very popular in the past few years in Autumn/Winter is fur (fake of course) I could never wear a real animal on my back, I just find that completely awful how someone could do that to such a beautiful creature (sob). Anyway, I have definitely been loving the fur looks! From coats to scarves to head band… thingy’s, I just love it! One of my favourite looks is the fur waistcoat, (pictured above) I think it just looks so effortless and chic and it’s probably incredibly warm too, Bonus!

Naughty neutrals…

neutral

Camels and browns are a definite YES this autumn. I love plain block colour high neck jumpers and jeans paired with statement necklaces. These are definitely the in colours this year and everyone has been absolutely loving them. I love the look pictured above, simple but elegant.

Lavishing long lines…

longline

Long line garments have been a must have this year with maxi cardi’s and long line waistcoats becoming a very big fashion trend. Personally, I don’t usually like most fashion trends that are in Vogue and Elle, I think they are very interesting to look and read about, but I could never imagine myself rocking one of the looks, they are just too out there and edgy for me. I like my plain tees and simple jeans, nothing too mish mash! This trend though, I have to say, I have loved. This is one of the simplest things you can do, outfit too casual? Chuck on a long line waistcoat and immediately it turns into smart casual right in front of your very eyes, it really is as simple as that!

So, there you have it, my little style guide to get you through this autumn. If you have any go to autumn looks, please let me know in the comments as I will be sure to try them out!

What Did I Get In My September Birchbox?

Birchbox 8

Hello! Today I’m going to be talking about my recent Birchbox delivery. I’m sure you are all intrigued as I first was when I first discovered it. Basically, a ‘Birchbox’ is a little box with 5-6 little samples of beauty products for you to try from all different brands. They deliver to your doorstep once every month and the best part is it only costs £10! (Including £2.95 delivery). This September they are celebrating their Birthday, hence the jazzy boxes!

Birchbox 1

So, basically you sign up for a subscription and you pay £12.95 every month and they deliver to your door with your 5-6 mystery samples for you to try. It may seem a lot of money for some of you but the products that you receive are of such good quality. Plus a big bonus for me is that I get to try the products before I splash out on the full product.

When you receive your box it comes all packed up in a box within a box. They send you a little handbook that explains about the products and how much the full size product size costs. Which you can also buy on their website at birchbox.co.uk/shop/ All the products come in a little bag, so cute!

Birchbox 5

3. Laqa & Co Cheeky Lip Pencil in ‘Humble Brag’ – This is a ultra pigmented multi-tasker, and lets face it, we all love a multi-tasker! Use on your cheeks and lips. Personally, I think the colour is lovely and it suits most skin tones. Retails at £17.

Birchbox 6

Very & Superdrug Haul.

Elizabeth Arden 1 (Edited & Tagged)

Hello! So today, I am going to be doing a haul post. The first part is from Very. I bought a Elizabeth Arden Foundation and Primer. Now, we all know I love my drug store make up more than anything in the entire world, but I thought I would treat myself so a little bit more high end. I have heard a lot of people love Elizabeth Arden so I thought I would give it a go! I will put up a review post as soon as I try them out, so watch this space!!!

Haul (Tagged & Edited)

The second part of the haul is super drug. This is the shop that I venture into and I am truly in my element. I don’t think I have ever spent under £50 in this shop, so awful!!! This isn’t all I bought (as you can probably guess).

1. Real Techniques Concealer Brush – This is a product I have wanted for some time as I already have a few concealer brushes from real techniques but I have so many different colour concealers its hard to keep washing them after every different colour use, basically I am just very lazy!

2. Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation (103 True Ivory) – At the moment, this is my favourite drug store foundation. It is the one I use daily if I’m just going to work or running errands, because lets face it, make up is expensive and I can’t afford to wear £45 foundation for people to cancel plans. Am I right?!?

3. Colab Monaco Dry Shampoo – I have recently seen this on a lot of reviews and people like it a lot. I’m not one to use dry shampoo. Usually, I just stick it up in a bun and hope for the best but I thought I would give this a try.

4. Collection 2000 Lasting Finish Concealer – This is the concealer I used to use when I was about 14/15 and I completely forgot it ever existed until I saw it the other day and I got so excited and you cant go wrong at £2.99!

5. Real Techniques Sculpting Brush – I basically have the complete collection of Real Techniques brushes. This is the one I have most wanted from day 1. I love my contour and I think this is the ideal angled brush to apply it with.

Hope you enjoyed this post and please do let me know if you have any requests for blog posts.

Autumn Wishlist.

Hello Autumn

So, as we say goodbye to beach waves, sunglasses and ice-creams, we say hello to chunky scarves, fluffy socks and hot chocolate. Autumn has finally arrived, along with its elegant natural beauty and crisp, cold mornings. There is just something about autumn that I absolutely love.

So, here is my Autumn wishlist…

Autumn wishlist

1. Black Western Ankle Boots (Dorothy Perkins) – I was shopping the other day and I saw the brown version of these and I absolutely loved them! So I had a quick look on their website and to my delight, they also made a black pair! They retail at £25.

2. Marc Jacobs Daisy Dream (John Lewis) – I was recently shopping in John Lewis and I saw this and thought it was so cute! I had a little smell and trust me, it’s lush! This retails at £69.50 for 100ml.

3. Stone Faux Fur Gilet (New Look) – I really love this, it’s so cute. It’s great for layering and keeping warm in the crisp Autumn. This retails at £24.99.

4. Urban Decay Naked Smoky Eye Palette (House of Fraser) – I have seen so many people raving about this palette, the colours are just too pretty and the swatches that I have seen look incredibly pigmented and it’s a Naked Palette.. so what could go wrong?!? This retails at £38.

5. Too Faced Born This Way Foundation 30ml (Debenhams) – This has only just been released, but already so many people are raving about it. I would love to try it for myself and see how I get on with it. This retails at £29.

6. Benefit POREfessional Primer (Debenhams) – I popped into Debenhams the other day and saw this on the counter and I thought ‘I NEED that’ being quite expensive, I talked myself out of it to buy it another day! This retails at £24.50.

7. Black Leather Look Faux Fur Collar Biker Jacket (New Look) – I really love New Looks Coats & Jackets collection this year. I usually have so much trouble in finding a coat that I really like but this year, there are so many that I like! I loved the fur collar on this one. It retails at £39.99.

8. Younique Moodstruck 3D Fiber Lash Mascara (Amazon) – I have seen SO many people making vlogs and blog posts on this product. Its different from most mascaras as you have two wands to use; a transplanting gel and a natural fibres. This is not something I have heard of doing before and it really intrigues me! This retails at £14.95.

So, that is my Autumn 2015 wishlist. If you have any of the products listed above, please tell me in the comments how you find them and advise me to buy them or not!
